O'Brien ukulele bridge vacuum clamp, top view

Designed with Robbie O’Brien of O’Brien Guitars · Built by Cariko in Rogersville, Missouri

Glue ukulele bridges with even pressure: no small clamps, no cauls, no clamp marks

Ukulele bodies leave even less room to work through the soundhole, and a small bridge makes it easy to apply uneven pressure or let the bridge slide while the glue sets. The Ukulele Bridge Vacuum Clamp presses the entire bridge down evenly from outside the instrument, and nothing can slip while the glue sets.

Video shows the guitar-size clamp; the ukulele clamp works the same way.

Why vacuum instead of clamps

  • Even pressure across the whole bridge, edge to edge
  • Nothing goes through the soundhole and no interior caul is needed
  • Alignment stays exactly where you set it
  • Fits soprano, concert and tenor ukulele bridges (interior 4 7/8" × 2 7/8")

What you’ll need: a vacuum source

The clamp connects to standard 1/4" vacuum tubing and works with any vacuum source in the 1–3 CFM range.

  • Already have an air compressor? A venturi vacuum generator will run it.
  • Already have a vacuum press for veneering? You’re set.
  • Buying a pump? We recommend a continuous-run, oil-free pump. The Excel 1 Continuous Run Vacuum System is a good example.

Built to last

  • Lightweight, durable plastic frame, guaranteed against breakage in normal use
  • Flexible silicone membrane for uniform pressure (replaceable, $24; the same membrane fits the guitar clamp)
  • Airtight neoprene bottom seal
  • Stainless steel hardware

How to use

  1. Position the bridge and hold briefly until the glue begins to tack.
  2. Apply the clamp and check alignment.
  3. Clamp for 10 minutes, clean off squeeze-out, then reclamp for 20–30 minutes.

Building guitars too?

The Guitar & Ukulele Bridge Vacuum Clamp Bundle gets you both sizes, running off the same vacuum source.
